Siopi_Blog Post 5: Marketing the Game & Asset Building

What's Been Going On?

Hey everyone, it's Noah. I am the design lead and marketing lead for Siopi. We are currently making a good amount of progress with the development, and we are all really happy with how it is coming together. We are also proud to announce that we will be showcasing our game at Lets Break Games in Perth on November 3rd, so make sure you come along and test out our game as it will help us understand the public's perspective on the game and what we may need to improve. Think of it as a chance for you to be directly involved in the development and improvement of our game. As part of my marketing role in the team, I have also been planning several press kit items that will help advertise our game at both this event and elsewhere. These include a team bio sheet that includes nice bits of information about me, Indy, and Jack to help you grow a connection with us. I am also in the early stages of planning a tutorial video and a teaser video to give you all a closer look into what we are working on together.

In terms of the development work itself, we've been busy at work on fleshing out the aspects of the game that we currently have nailed down, and adding pieces here and there. This includes making a bunch of awesome assets to make the world more immersive and aesthetic, along with improving on the scripts and game's mechanics that will make the game feel more smooth and enjoyable to play. I have been spending most of my time working with Indy, the art lead, to research, brainstorm, and design these new assets I mentioned. We've made sure that the assets designs are reflective of what we want to be achieving visually with the cartoon art nouveau style that we have previously mentioned. As I don't have as much 3D modelling experience as Indy, I have been working on the smaller assets, such as building pieces like window frames, gutters, and other city related models.

What Will Be Happening?

The development from now and onward will be strongly focused on improving what we have, similar to what we've been doing over the last week or so. Doing this will allow us to flesh out our game as much as possible before taking it to Lets Break Games in a month. We have a strong frame of what we want to achieve by then, however if we advance quicker than expected we will be able to expand the game even further to include new and exciting things for you to see.
